It just resonates with me.

Thanks to Stefano Popovski for the object building tutorial.

Several years ago, I would have thought making the drum impossible using only fractals.  Popovski is known for both conventional art work and fractal pieces, which are usually moody with texture overlays and some amazingly realistic looking objects (ships, guns, wheels, etc.).  He kindly posted a public tutorial on how he made these objects with simple fractals (basic Julia with some Gradient ICA) utilizing geometric, perspective, and optical principles.  I say "simple," but these objects utilize a great many layers and masks.  Each line, each facing, each wheel spoke, and other parts of an object may require 3-4 layers/masks.  So, although the building of these structures is easy, once you understand the concepts, the work is very tedious.  Once you create the objects, however, they can be combined or adapted in a multitude of ways to form other structures, like using building blocks.

That's why I credited Popovski and his tutorial, because I adapted one of his concepts from it.   His work is groundbreaking and I've not seen it utilized to this degree of accuracy by any other fractal artist.  He then takes things further, however, by combining his objects with texture, color, and mood to create real art.
